Would you rather a girl sent it to your workplace, or home?

What kinda arrangement is best? We are not dating or anything. We are good friends, and I really like him.

For a long time i have hoped that one day a woman would give me flowers. It finally happened recently and i was so pleased, and i didn%26#039;t feel any less masculine. i must say i sort of had to drop a hint, but what the hell it worked.

I personally do not like flowers for a present. Flowers are beautiful, but it saddens me when they wilt and die. Instead, find something more personal for a present. Add to a collection that she has. Take her for a special dinner or a picnic. Females love romance. If you are still stuck on giving flowers, also include a box of good chocolate or a piece of jewelry or some other personal item she will enjoy.

Reply:Well I honestly do not feel as though I owe my folks anything, Yes they had me, but you know what? 8 months after they did they left me at the neighbors and never came back for me. No they didnt die or anything. They also lied on my birth certificate about their names, I spent 15 years looking for the wrong people. Once I did find my biological family I wish I hadnt. They are nothing like me, they have no morals, I am very grateful for the mom and dad that raised me, to me they are my real paretns and when they were alive, there was nothing I would do for them. So it has nothing to do with whether they gave you life, rather than they gave you A life

Should I send my Ex-fiance a Birthday gift or flowers?

My fiance, whom I dated for more than 4 years broke up with me in June, 5 days before our wedding, I thought we had an AMAZING RELATIONSHIP and would do anything for her. Needless to say I was completely and utterly devastated. She told me she needs to find herself and her individuality, and that she was depressed. I miss her more than words and it is now January, and it is her birthday next week. Should I send a gift, I don%26#039;t know if it%26#039;s the right thing to do, I did go out with her for 4 years. It%26#039;s also wrong if they are flowers associated with romance--that is roses. Wild flowers, seasonal flowers, live plants...all perfectly alright.

Reply:Marie, I am a married man, and my best friend is a woman. Before we got married I introduced the two best women in my life, and they are friends, too. We exchange gifts on Christmas, and it is great.

Have your husband introduce the two of you. If all is above board between them, it should not be a big deal.

I like star gazer lilies, they smell great and are pretty but sometimes make a mess. Carnations are nice in different colors, they last long and are inexpensive. Flowers are a nice gesture but flowers are VERY EXPENSIVE when ordered from a florist %26amp; delivered… They don’t last long… I have more vases then I know what to do with%26amp; end up giving them to GoodWill to join their collection of cheap “free” vases that come with flowers…

I find it depressing how the flowers are meant as a good thing but then they, like everything else, begins to decay, %26amp; end up rotten %26amp; in the trash… Last year on my b-day I got THREE DELIVERIES OF FLOWERS! I had no where to put them all %26amp; had to give them away to neighbors!

This year I only got 1 (thank god) but it doesn’t even have anything I can dry to use in an arrangement. They are all just ‘throw-out’ flowers. VERY EXPENSIVE ‘throw-out’ flowers

I would MUCH rather have some kind of plant that I can care for %26amp; keep for more then a week!

What do you use to attach icing flowers and accessories to a birthday cake with?

I want to try and have a go to decorate my 4 year old daughters cake for her Birthday. I just don%26#039;t know how to get the flowers, ribbons etc to stick.

What do you use to attach icing flowers and accessories to a birthday cake with?
I decorated a cake recently and went through a few different methods before finding one that worked well!

The way that I found works best it to get some of that %26quot;Writing Icing%26quot; stuff.. it%26#039;s basically just a tube of icing with a nozzle on the end.. you can buy it in most supermarkets and it comes in loads of different colours.. squeeze a little drop onto the back of whatever it is you want to stick on the cake and hey presto! You can then replace the cap, stick it back in the cupboard and save it for next time.. also, it tastes really yummy too! :o) Have fun! and happy birthday to your daughter!
Reply:A bit of icing sugar mixed with water usually does the trick. or royal icing (some supermarkets stock icing sugar ready for royal icing - just add water, but just to atatch prob not worth the bother). otherwise you can buy sugar glue, but you might have to go to specialist cake shops for that, but check your supermarket. ribbon - if its a ribbon around the cake then use a dab or two of the icing - i usually stick a thin pin through te ribbon into the cake - sterilise in boiling water first. if you are not keen on pins around kiddies, you can just remove immeidately after the cake has been cut, or if you use a couple of dabs of icing sugar and water mix to hold it, and use the pin to secure the whole lot, by the time the icing has dried you can just remove the pin. it should stick in place.

Also, what is your cake covered with - if its just buttercream/soft icing then just push your decs on, if its firm icing you%26#039;ll need the icing sugar and water or sugar glue method.

Reply:Use a little icing, just a small blob will do it. Keep a little back from when you ice the cake, or make up a little amount when needed. I used to do this to anchor Christmas cake decorations too.

Reply:You are icing the cake with buttercream icing, right? Just stick any pre-made stuff to it. If you are trying to pipe the flowers and stuff, just pipe them onto the cake.

Be sure to pipe the flowers sample style first on waxed paper. Pick them up with the tip of paring knife and lay them where you want them on the cake.

Much easier to do than tell how!!
Reply:I always use a very small squeeze of the icing you get in a tube. Put it on the back of the flower or ribbon with a cocktail stick or something similar. I usually use that icing for decorating and writing although I put it into my own icing back and use my nozzles. The ones that come with the tube are too thick. You could also use some icing sugar and water but it is harder to get the right consistancy

A friend of mines long term boy friend recently sent his ex-wife flowers for her birthday. She thinks that sending flowers is a romantic gesture. He explained that they were just a spring arrangement, not roses and that he sent them to be nice. He re assured her that she had nothing to worry about. My friend felt a bit hurt because her boyfriend had not sent her flowers for 4 years and then sent some to his ex. Is she over reacting or does she have a valid reason to be upset? I told her I%26#039;d get some opinions.

But I think flowers are a romantic gesture when coming from a man to a woman.

Birthday Flowers for a Friend!? What should I get her?

So my friend%26#039;s birthday is 1 month from today. We%26#039;re close but not extremely close, and we%26#039;re coworkers. We%26#039;re both single, and claim we%26#039;re happy being single, but that chemistry I think is starting to show between us. I thought it would be fun to buy her a beautiful spring bouquet with a giant balloon that says Happy B-Day and sneak it in on her desk when she%26#039;s gone. Roses are awesome, but sending her too many can send the wrong message. Also consider the color of the flowers. Red roses are usually from a boyfriend, husband, or fiance. If you want to send her roses, go with 3 roses (anymore, and you could be saying you love her), either in light pink, yellow, or orange. Gerber daisies are also really pretty and come in fun colors. I think a small John Deere bear added to the bouquet would give it a personal touch.

Is it ok to send flowers to my boyfriend at work for his birthday?

We have been dating for 4 yrs and he%26#039;s got me flowers twice in that time. He is not a real sensitive guy but I thought it would be a good gesture to send him some flowers on his birthday at work so he realises how it feels. I%26#039;m only concerned if he does not feel more embaressed than happy about it.

He works in a small office and is in finance. Everyone there is pretty much suit and tie. Nobody has received flowers at his office so far. I just want to get some advise from other folks because I don%26#039;t want him to become uncomfortable with the fact that I sent him flowers.

Reply:I sent a boyfriend of mine flowers for once at work, but I asked for tiger lilies to be sent, and not roses or anything pink or too pretty. (Some of the more architectural flowers would have been OK too). I also advised the florist carefully as I didn%26#039;t want twee bows and ribbons all over it either.

Despite him being a lawyer, and working in a really small office with all males except for the receptionist, once he%26#039;d got over the initial embarassment, he got quite a bit of respect for it - as did I from his fellow colleagues.

If your boyfriend is a confident guy and settled in at work, you should be OK, but I guess you always take a risk that he will take offence ( %26amp; he%26#039;d be daft if he did). However, if he is a sensitive guy, he will probably really enjoy the gesture and appreciate the effort you went to. Good luck with it and I hope he loves receiving them!

Guys - how do you feel if someone sends you flowers on your birthday?

I%26#039;ve been arguing with my mom on this one for a long time now, but I have an aunt that moved away. When she was closer she would usually bake a special cake on my birthday or my sisters. But since she moved away she sends flowers as well as a card and a gift; the flowers usually arrive by a florist on the day. The first time this happened I felt really embarrassed about it and didn%26#039;t like it. My mom thought it was nice and send it is a custom and not a big deal. Then it happened again last year and some guy friends saw them - none of them have ever had flowers for their birthday before although one had a cousin that had - we were able to laugh it off to a nutty aunt, but it was still awkward. Now with my b%26#039;day coming up again I already know that flowers will be coming this year. I%26#039;ve said to my mom that I wish she%26#039;d say to not bother or use the money for something else or save it, but my mom%26#039;s mad at me and told me to thank her when they come

I understand it%26#039;s a little unusual for men, but I doubt anyone will think less of you at all truly for merely recieving flowers from a family member. I am surprised your mother doesn%26#039;t understand how you%26#039;re feeling though, I%26#039;ve recieved embarressing gifts before but my parents were always understanding and they felt less guilt than me when disposing of them. Your birthday is supposed to be an enjoyable time for you, and the last thing she should be worrying about is etiquette on your behalf. I think it would be quite easy for her to discretely hint your aunt to not send them, she might not succeed, but I%26#039;m surprised she will not even attempt to remedy the situation. I think he just doesn%26#039;t know any better. If you really love him, you%26#039;ll find subtle yet effective ways the proper way of doing things.

Say, for example,. he receives a gift from an Aunt. That%26#039;s a great opportunity to suggest to him that he write a thank-you note or at least call her. If he resists, you can take THAT opportunity to tell him that it%26#039;s only proper courtesy that he acknowledge a gift. And leave the fact that you gave him flowers out of it - for now. If he starts thanking everybody BUT you, then it%26#039;s time to address that problem.

Stop fishing for thank-yous for your gifts. It%26#039;s selfish and it diminishes the generosity of your gift. Like I said, it you want to change this behavior, remove yourself from the equation.
