I am looking for a way to put real flowers on a birthday cake.?

I am making a garden cake (two tiered) for a birthday. I was wonder how to put the real flowers in and what I need to put around them.

I am looking for a way to put real flowers on a birthday cake.?
What i would do is go to your local bakery and ask the cake decorator..they should know about edible flowers ,and how to clean them properly and keep them fresh looking, possible a florist would know this also.
Reply:Make sure you use organic flowers. They%26#039;ll be safe to eat, because they%26#039;re grown without pesticides.
Reply:if you use edible or non-toxic flowers that are preferrably organic (but not necaessary if you wash them) you will be fine just putting them on the cake directly...but don%26#039;t put them on the cake until just before you serve it or at least an hour or two before b/c they can start to wilt....also a good idea to keep the cake refrigerated with the flowers on it until you display or serve it...look online for a list of nontoxic flowers..good luck!
Reply:If the flowers are edible you can just put them directly on the cake. The link below gives a good long list of edible flowers. If there%26#039;s frosting on the cake, that will hold them in place.
Reply:Try looking in a health food store such as Whole Foods, they have different varieties of edible flowers.
Reply:Just place them on but place them in the refridgerator the day before leave enough stem for them to go down into the cake
Reply:First...use an edible flower..like marigolds...others are poisonous

Second...I would just go ahead and clean them and then put them on in a decorative way, just the tops though

Have Fun
